GED - A Different Path

Wallkill Senior High School offers a very special evening program designed to offer qualified students a "last chance" to earn a diploma. Applicants for the program must first schedule an interview with Mr. Musico, director of the Evening Division. The student then meets with his/her Guidance Counselor to determine whether the GED is an appropriate course of action for that individual. Finally, the form is signed by Mr. Bernsley, the High School Principal. The final step towards acceptance into the program is passing a Reading and Math competency test, administered by the teaching staff.

Once accepted, the student attends 150 hours of instruction in the subjects measured by the GED exam: Math and Science class is held on Monday nights, taught by Ms. Lipani; English and Social Studies on Wednesday nights, taught by Ms. Wood. Upon completion of the required hours, candidates must qualify for the official GED exam by passing a Practice exam in all subjects before they can be nominated by the teachers to sit for the GED tests.
